Your crews are busy all day. Now you'll know where the hours went.

Motion Map reads GPS from your crew members' phones, measures time per zone and task on every property, and texts each crew lead a plan: who works where, in what order, with which equipment, and when to refuel.

↑ Each number is one person, their zone, and the order to work it.

Same property. Same scope. 45 minutes apart.

The work gets done either way. The difference is waiting, walking, and trips for fuel, and none of it shows up on a timesheet.

Crew A

3 h 40 min
  • Truck parks at the far end. Everyone walks in.
  • Two people wait for the one trimmer.
  • Mower runs dry mid-zone. Walk back to the truck.
  • Blowing waits until mowing is done everywhere.

Crew B, with Motion Map

2 h 55 min
  • Truck parks where the zones meet.
  • Trimmer handed off at a planned point.
  • Mower refuels at the truck between zones.
  • Blowing starts in zone 1 as soon as it's mowed.

Illustrative example.

Your crews go home. Motion Map keeps working.

One night, from the last truck in to the first truck out.

  1. Today’s GPS comes inTime per zone, per task, per person, from crew members’ phones.
  2. Tomorrow’s crews matched to tasksWho can run which machine, who can switch tasks, and who’s on which truck.
  3. Refueling plannedFuel stops placed where they cost the least time, before a machine runs dry.
  4. Tool handoffs placedShared trimmers and blowers move between people so no one waits.
  5. Truck parking setParked to cut walking, and moved mid-job if the property needs it.

Step 1

We measure every minute on every property.

GPS on each crew member's phone shows time per zone, per task, per person: mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, shrubs, and the walking, waiting and refueling in between.

Example breakdown
What goes into every plan
TasksQuantity, location, required tools, completion criteria and order/dependencies.
WorkersHeadcount, skills, role assignments and ability to switch tasks.
EquipmentAvailable tools, who can use them, transport and tool handoffs.
FuelStarting fuel, consumption, refueling duration and available fuel locations.
MovementWalking/driving times, traversable paths, truck parking and relocation.
Shared resourcesThe truck, fuel and tools cannot serve incompatible activities simultaneously.
CoordinationWorkers waiting for prerequisites, equipment or another worker to finish.
Step 2

We plan around everything on the property.

Not by copying your fastest crew. Every plan weighs the tasks, the people, the equipment, the fuel, the walking and the truck, so nobody stands around waiting on someone else.

The goal: minimize total paid crew cost through the last task's completion, while preserving required scope and quality.

A nice side effect

Bid with the production rates your crews actually hit.

Once time is measured per task, you know how many square yards an hour your crews mow and how many linear feet an hour they edge, on properties like the one you're bidding. Margin shows on every bid, maintenance and hardscape.

What changes the estimate
Task and measured quantity
Separate mowing, edging, trimming, blowing and shrubs; use task-appropriate quantities and rates. Edging and trimming are explicitly priced separately.
Slope
Changes achievable production speed; use elevation data rather than noisy phone altitude.
Obstacles and complexity
Edge curvature, tree rings, and perimeter relative to area affect work time.
Days since last service
A longer interval changes the workload; compare equivalent service intervals.
Growth, weather and season
Recent rainfall, temperature and season affect conditions and production.
Equipment
Machine model/deck size and handheld equipment affect rates.
Crew/person performing the task
Attribute measured time to the actual resources doing it; don’t assume one universal rate.
Exceptional conditions
Wet ground, irrigation repairs and other interruptions need notes or outlier flags.
Actual property condition and scope
Site walks remain necessary; aerial imagery misses hidden areas, shadows, overhangs and detailed conditions.
Contract scope
Contracted enhancements and out-of-scope extras must be distinguished.

8-week pilot: 3 crews use Motion Map, the rest don't. Pilot crews are compared to their own pre-pilot hours and to the other crews, so the season doesn't skew it.

Questions people ask

Does it replace the software we already use?

No. Motion Map works beside your scheduling, estimating and time-tracking tools.

Where does the GPS data come from?

From the phones your crew members already carry. Time is attributed to the person doing each task, not to one average rate for the crew.

Do crew leads need training?

They get one text with one link. The map shows each person’s zone and order, in English or Spanish.

Can aerial measurements replace site walks?

No. Aerial imagery misses hidden areas, shadows, overhangs and detailed conditions. Site walks remain necessary.

What if the pilot doesn’t save 5%?

Every monthly fee is refunded. Pilot crews are compared to their own pre-pilot hours and to the crews not using Motion Map.

Do you take a cut of what we save?

No. No revenue share and no profit share. You pay the monthly price and nothing else.
